Beatalica- Ktulu (He's so heavy)

Ktulu, he's so bad he's driving me mad!

"Ice Tower of the Salka" is out!

Shameless plug of gaming material with my illustrations in it!

Ice Tower of the Salka

Sixty years ago, a mysterious flood of glacial ice utterly buried the tower stronghold of the Salka, a powerful and evil sorceress known throughout the land. Now, fissuring of the deep ice has revealed the rooftop of this lost tower. The secrets and treasurers of the Salka lie within, awaiting a band of powerful adventurers to explore the depths of her ice-entombed stronghold.

Written by James C. Boney, this Swords & Wizardry adventure is for PC levels 8-12 and is 20 pages long.

The print version is saddle stitched and sells for $11.00 US. The e-book version sells for $5.00 US.

Both versions are available now through the Black Blade Publishing online store:

Mal Ojo

Just a quick post. Here's a character that I've had in my head for some time, so I did a quick sketch of him and for the most part he looks like how I imagined him. Mal Ojo (The Evil Eye) is a post apocalyptic gunslinger with a keen eye for the supernatural! After I finish a couple of projects I plan on getting started on what I hope will become a web comic!

Conan The Rastafarian?

Dear Hollywood,

Please stop making movies!

Everytime I read something about this movie my testosterone level goes down a notch! It's almost as if some new age peace love guru from the sixties and seventies is directing this monstrosity. Next I'm going to hear about how the Cimmerians were a peace loving peoples who lived in a pristine wilderness until the evil Aquilonians destroyed their people and culture. Now Conan will take revenge.

There's no way that the director of this movie could have read any of the original R.E.H. books and come up with this. Actually nobody could've read any of the Conan pastiches and come up with this. I'm going to pretend that there's no Conan movie coming out and just call it something else.

Read about the horror here!

Thanks to Deuce at The Cimmerian for posting this.

Am I a minimalist, or just a jerk?

I've been thinking about minimalism in gaming, and how that's what I'm drawn to. I love Swords & Wizardry and Tunnels & Trolls as far as Role Playing Games go. I'm also starting to get into Hordes of the Things, Songs of Blades and Heroes, and G.A.S.L.I.G.H.T. for wargaming. All are what I consider to be rules light.

But then I was thinking about everything else I like tending towards the minimalistic. Like music for instance, I like blues, rockabilly, punk, bubblegum pop etc. and most of the songs I listen to tend to be under 3 minutes long. From The Ramones, The Muffs, Motorhead, The Groovie Ghoulies, The Runaways, The Drags, The Mummies...etc. to Slim Harpo and Howling Wolf. I love Badfinger and Big Star on and on, you get the picture.

TV shows that I enjoy have been cancelled after one or two seasons (the only exception being The X Files), like Freaks and Geeks, Undeclared, Arrested Developement.

I don't know, I guess I'm just rambling, but was wondering if minimalism is a sort of elitism at the same time....
