Sky Saxon RIP

Lead singer of the Seeds, a garage punk band from the sixties. They are more influential on rock today than they were in the sixties, and if you haven't heard them before check out this performance!

Cheers, Sky.

The Great Sketchbook Swap!

I've been wanting to do a sketchbook swap. I've always thought it would be a neat idea, so I posted it on the Etsy Etc. Forum and generated some interest. Ideally I would like to get at least 12 artists involved.

What does the swap entail, you ask?

You just need a blank sketchbook, come up with a theme, draw a few pictures in it and send it on to the next person. Ideally each artist should have the sketchbook no longer than a month. After the sketchbooks have circulated through, it goes back to the original owner. Full of art from different artists!

Hopefully we can get a decent sized group to participate!

I added a facebook group too!

Draw!

I haven't had the chance to draw, for the past few months. My life has been a little hectic lately. But today I decided the sling some ink, just to get back into the game. Hopefully this will prompt me to be more productive in the future!

Bob Bogle of the Ventures RIP

I don't mean to become an obituary blog, but I thought it needed to be said. Bob Bogle from the Ventures lost his battle with cancer today. Bob was the lead guitarist for one of my favorite instrumental rock groups. The Ventures were made popular by songs like "Walk, Don't Run", "Telstar", "The Lonely Bull", and others. I've been a big fan of the Ventures for years and still enjoy them to this day. If you haven't listened to them, you should check out a greatest hit record. You won't be disappointed.

Here's a link to the story.

Here's a link to a Venture's performance:

Darth Vader Never Stood A Chance!

I found this pic today! It's from around the summer of 1977 during the summer reading program at the Willmar Public Library in Willmar, MN.

They had a craft project that the kids in the area participated in. Making dioramas or figures based on Star Wars, and if you participated you got a free Star Wars action figure. I didn't know about this before hand and I remember feeling left out. What four year old wouldn't? But I did get to shoot Darth Vader with my handy Ping Pong Ball Blaster! I know that was every kids dream in 1977!

David Carradine: 1936 - 2009 R.I.P.

I just started re-watching the Kung-Fu series yesterday only to find out that David Carradine passed away. I loved his work, from Kung Fu to Kill Bill. Even the controversial Circle Of Iron had some great moments. He was a great actor and interesting man. He will be greatly missed.
