Saturday Morning Cartoons

Remember when you used to look forward to Saturday morning cartoons? Sitting down on the floor in front of the tube with a bowl of Booberry cereal in you lap. Watching the antix of Daffy Duck, Quickdraw McGraw, and Top Cat or the heroics of Space Ghost, the Herculoids and Marine Boy. Well look no further, Warner Brothers has released this awesome two disc set called Saturday Morning Cartoons 1960s Volume 1! It's got all the greats like The Jetsons, Atom Ant, Frankenstein Jr., Secret Squirrel, Agent 000, Porky Pig , Ricochet Rabbit and more!

My favorites are The Herculoids and Space Ghost! Two great sci-fi animated adventure shows that set the bar for action television for years to come!

There's also a few mini-documentaries, The Good, The Bad and the El Kabong, The Herculoids: First Family of Planet Quasar, And Monster rock: The Adventures of Frankenstein Jr. and the Impossibles. The only thing missing would be some retro commercials, that would really set the mood. But you can't have everything.

This 5 hours of cartoon madness will help you retake Saturday mornings from all the stupid politically correct, boring cartoons that are on today! I watched one of the discs with my kids this morning, and it was awesome! There's also a 1970s collection, but I haven't bought that one yet.

Cry Havoc!

When I was a kid, we had a family friend who was a wargamer and a prolific military miniatures painter and collector. He really opened up my ten year old eyes to this great hobby (1983 or so).

My father went away for some business meetings, and his friend Rich, was with also. My dad told me about this great game he played, and he went to his suitcase and pulled out a new copy of Cry Havoc!
We played a couple of games and I was instantly hooked! This became my gateway-game for the hobby of wargaming.

Cry Havoc! is a skirmish level medieval warfare game. The maps were wonderful, and the full color counters and easy rules made it a perfect learning tool. Due to the scale of the game pieces, it made it an easy conversion for miniatures!

Unfortunately this game is no longer available, but there is an online version available here.

If you are a fan of Cry Havoc, this is a great site! And if you've never heard of it, this is a pretty good introduction to the game.

Internet back up

I just recently bought a house, and am now moved in. I haven't had internet access for about 2 weeks. I'll eventually post something more interesting soon though.
