Power Pop/Bubblegum Greats! Pt. 1

The Archies! What's there not to like about the Archies?

They're songs were catchy and fun! And the music was all based around the characters from comics, just like Josie and the Pussycats (which was actually a spinoff of the Archies) Sure, they were studio musicians, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy it! With Andy Kim lending his voice as the lead, how can you go wrong?

Don Kirschner (creator of The Monkees) also created all the pop candy sweetness of the Archies. I'm convinced that Don Kirschner was a genius! Every thing he touched was gold, he was kind of like the Sid & Marty Krofft of the music industry.

And speaking of Sid & Marty Krofft, they created the sets and characters of T.V.'s The Banana Splits! With zany characters like Drooper,Fleegle, Snorky and Bingo, they were the anthropomorphic Beatles! It was another saturday morning cartoon show that featured a lot of great Bubblegum pop gems. Like "I Enjoy Being A Boy" "Tra La La (Banana Splits Theme Song)", and "Don't Go Away, Go Go Girl".

It would be nice to go back to a time where cynicism isn't reflected in our pop culture. Television, movies and music were more light hearted and enjoyable.

Here's a clip, enjoy!

I really wish Cartoon Network would stop teasing me with their short Banana Splits bumpers and just show the episodes.
