Lost Cartoons of Yesteryear #3

DC Heroes: The Filmation Adventures

I've been watching this on and off with the kids, and they love it! I like it a lot too! Lou Scheimer and Filmation studios (rivals to Hanna/Barbera) will forever be part of my childhood. Now I didn't grow up with this series, Superfriends was more my era of superhero cartoon (in fact these are about 10 years earlier than Superfriends). It definitely fits in with everything I love about Filmation, simple animation, great voice actors, lot's of action, and decent stories.

This series covers Hawkman, The Flash, The Atom, Green Lantern, Teen Titans, and The Justice League!

Now you won't really find the DC heroes really tackling any classic supervillains, in fact it's mostly alien menaces that they deal with. My personal favorites were the Hawkman episodes. He's always had a kind of Weird Tales/Sci-Fi feel.

The series wasn't really true to the comics like The Justice League is. I mean, Batman is completely missing from the Justice League episodes (and he was JL's financier), Wonder Woman is also missing (and she's a member the the trinity, Superman, Batman being the other two), and Robin is absent from The Teen Titans (even though he was the leader of the group. But overall I highly recommend this series, especially if you're tired of all the Anime crap and want to introduce your kids to simple innocent cartoon fun!
