Lately I've taken to reading old cartoon strips from the 1930's and 1940's. From Steve Canyon, Terry and the Pirates, Tarzan, Flash Gordon, to Dick Tracy and Tin Tin. I really like the theme of the the "average joe" hero. The rough and tumble, bare-knuckled, plain speaking hero. I've had the character of "Joe Palooka" bouncing around in my head for sometime now (I've got way too many ideas and no time to do anything with them), so I finally decided to draw him. Right know he's just a drawing, but I hope to come up with stories and images enough for a strip.
